Know what your renovation will really cost

Add your rooms and jobs, compare the quotes, and watch your contingency shrink as prices come in over estimate. Type your own numbers, or load the sample to see how it works.

Your answer

Where the money stands

Still to pay is added up line by line; overpaying one line doesn't reduce another. Committed is the chosen amount of every committed or paid line, plus approved change orders. Forecast adds the lines you have not committed yet, at their chosen quote or their estimate.

Contingency

By area: planned, committed and paid

Planned is your estimates. Each area's bars share one scale, so you can see where committed has moved past planned.

How to use it (a minute)

  1. In Setup, enter your total budget and how much contingency to hold back (15% to start). Rename your areas or add more.
  2. In Lines, add each job with an estimate. When quotes arrive, add them to the line and choose the one you are using. Set the status to committed once you agree to it.
  3. Log price changes in Change orders. The box at the top shows contingency left and what you still have to pay. Views and Payments due break it down.
  4. With the sample loaded, open Cabinets in Lines and choose the $10,200 quote. Contingency left drops by $800.
  5. Everything saves on this device automatically. Nothing is sent anywhere. Use Export for a backup file and Import to load it on another device.
