What you get

  • Your runway in months on three budgets side by side: Normal, Bare bones, and a Custom mix where you pick normal or bare bones for each line
  • Severance, PTO payouts and tax refunds land in the month you pick; weekly benefit payments are spread by month from the weekly amount and number of weeks you enter
  • What each change would add: for every line where you enter a lower bare-bones amount, the months that change alone would add to your Normal runway, with the monthly difference beside it
  • "If a new job starts in..." shows your lowest balance before the first paycheck, and whether it stays at or above the floor you set
  • A balance chart, a month-by-month table and a one-page print summary, all from numbers that stay on your device

Who it's for

People who have just been laid off, expect a layoff, are between contracts or are planning a career break, and want an estimate, from their own numbers, of how long their cash could last. Works for one earner or a household.

Questions

Is this financial advice?

No. An estimate from the numbers you enter. Not financial, tax or benefits advice. Your state decides unemployment eligibility and amounts; enter what it tells you. It doesn't tell you what to change, which accounts to use or how to handle severance, taxes or health coverage; it shows what your own numbers add up to.

Does it work out my unemployment benefits?

No. Your state decides eligibility and amounts. You type in the weekly amount and number of weeks your state tells you, and the tool spreads that money across the months.

Does it count my retirement accounts?

No. You can list a retirement account so your picture is complete, but it is labeled "not counted" and never goes into the runway. The tool doesn't model those accounts or suggest using them.

Does it work offline, and is my data private?

Yes. It is a single file you download and open in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. Your numbers are saved on your own device only.

How do I keep a backup or move it to my phone?

Use Export to save a backup file, then open the tool on the other device and use Import to load it. Everything you entered comes across exactly.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Each tool is a single file that opens in the browser on any iPhone, Android phone, tablet or computer. There's no app to install.

Where do my numbers go?

Nowhere. Everything you type stays on your own device. The tools work offline and never send your data anywhere.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once and keep the file. Fixes to the version you bought are free.
