What you get
- This payday screen: "Stuff $505" split into cash and bank, with an amount for every pot you can edit if your pay is short
- Save-by-a-date pots work out the per-payday amount (rounded up to the dollar) and recalculate as balances change, or you set your own amount and see if you're on track
- Emergency fund, open-ended pots with no end date, and spending envelopes that show what's left and what you've spent this pay period
- Cash breakdown for every envelope: how many $20s, $10s, $5s and $1s to take out, with $100, $50 and $2 as options
- A ledger for each pot with deposits, spends and moves between pots, a 12-month due-date view, and one-page and binder-card printing
Who it's for
People who want the money to be there when the car insurance, vet bill or holiday spending arrives, and who are tired of sinking-fund sheets that break on a phone or force an end date. It tracks the money you choose to set aside, using the numbers you enter. It doesn't hold or move money. Not financial advice.
Questions
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It's built for phones first: the payday screen, the progress bars, the cash breakdown and the ledgers all work on a small screen. It's one file, with no app, no account and no internet needed once you have it.
Do my funds need an end date?
No. Save-by-a-date pots use a date, but open-ended pots have no target and no end date (they just show the balance and what you've added this year), and spending envelopes are refilled every payday for as long as you like.
How does it work out how much to put in each pot?
For a save-by-a-date pot it takes what's still needed (target minus balance) and divides it by the number of paydays from your next one through the due date, rounded up to the whole dollar. Pick your pay schedule and next payday once. It recalculates every time a balance changes, and you can set your own amount instead and see whether you'd be on track.
How is this different from a bill planner?
A bill planner asks whether this paycheck covers the bills due before your next payday. This tool holds the money you've set aside in named pots, tracks each balance, plans each pot's contribution toward a target and date, and logs cash stuffed and spent. It has no bill calendar.
Is my data safe, and can I back it up?
Everything stays in your own browser on your own device, and nothing is sent anywhere. Use Export to save a backup file and Import to load it on another device. This tool tracks the money you choose to set aside, using the numbers you enter. It doesn't hold or move money, and it isn't financial advice.
Where do my numbers go?
Nowhere. Everything you type stays on your own device. The tools work offline and never send your data anywhere.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once and keep the file. Fixes to the version you bought are free.
